North Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT)

North Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT) is one of the oldest providers of vocational training in Australia, dating back to 1912. Today, NMIT offers both vocational training and higher education programs for both local and international students in a variety of areas, including Agriculture, Aquaculture, Hospitality, Viticulture, Music and Publishing, with Business and Information Technology added just this year. NMIT has expanded to having seven campuses, as well, namely campuses in Ararat, Collingwood, Epping, Fairfield, Greensborough, Heidelberg and Preston, all of which are located north of the Melbourne Central Business District, and it has six special training centres scattered through the area, as well. NMIT also has a specialist school for deaf students which is committed to preparing them for suitable employment opportunities.
