When studying in a tertiary educational institution, which includes universities and TAFE (Training and Further Education) institutes, there are three types of programs you can enroll in. One is a degree program, which usually takes four years to complete and covers both general education courses and specialized courses. The second is a diploma program, which takes two to three years, during which intensive training is provided capped by a job placement. Lastly, there is the certificate program which takes about six months to a year and focuses on applied learning. After completing a degree program, you can always earn secondary diplomas & certificates if you want to. In fact, some universities even allow you to pursue these at the same time.
