Physical Sciences

While biology is defined as the study of living organisms on earth, the physical sciences deal with non-living matter or the physical world which living organisms interact with. In the Physical Sciences program, you will discuss the various fields of physical sciences, such as astronomy, which deals with the study of objects, processes and phenomena in space; chemistry, which studies the composition, properties and chemical reactions of matter; geology which focuses on the composition of the earth; physics, which deals with the movement of matter; and atmospheric science which studies the Earth’s atmosphere with a focus on changes in weather and climate. These fields are divided into several courses scattered throughout the program, with each course comprised of both class discussions and lab or field experiments.
