Medical Assisting

In order for doctors to focus on diagnosing and treating their patients, they need assistants to take care of other tasks, such as documentation and billing, as well as assist in their own tasks, such as helping to conduct patient examinations. If you want to be such an assistant, the Medical Assisting program will teach you everything you need to know, from collecting specimens for lab tests and reading lab test results, to obtaining patient history and managing patient records manually and electronically and assisting in physical examinations and even outpatient surgical procedures. You will also learn medical ethics, first aid, medical terminology and pharmacology.
