Interior Design

Whereas Architecture programs focus on designing the structure and exterior of residential and commercial spaces, Interior Design programs provide training in designing the inside of these spaces in order to utilize each space more effectively and make it more attractive. Indeed, when you enroll in an Interior Design program, you will learn about the history of the decorative arts so you will be familiar with the various styles that have emerged through time, and you will also learn the basics of textile, furniture and lighting design. Some universities also offer specific courses on kitchen and bath design and green interiors. By the end of the program, you will have a folio of various projects which will give you an edge in applying for jobs in designing homes and commercial spaces, and even designing sets for television and film.
