Fire Protection programs are for those who want to become firefighters who prevent and suppress fire so that it does not take away lives and damage property. Students start off by learning about the basics of fire protection, such as its history, development, function and related laws, and then go on to study about construction and building codes which are important in conducting fire inspections, investigating the cause of fires, international fire codes, different fire alarm systems and electrical installations in both residential and commercial settings, before going to the most important part of the program – learning firefighting techniques in various situations, including wildfires and chemical disasters, which is taught mostly through hands-on training, simulations and on-the-job training.
