General Studies

English programs cover three main areas – the basics of the English language, creative writing and literature. The basics of the English language is a comprehensive review of everything you have learned about the English language so far, and then the application of these in making academic compositions. The creative writing part takes you through the fundamentals of writing poetry and short stories and finally, literature comprises the largest part of the program, with courses about literature from various parts of the world, literature from various periods of history, literature written by famous writers such as Shakespeare, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Ernest Hemingway, and various literary genres including women’s literature, children’s literature and gay and lesbian literature.
