A craftsman is defined as a person who specializes in a specific craft or trade. In the past, craftsmen were also called artisans who were held in high regard and belonged to various esteemed guilds. Today, few of these guilds remain. However, you can still be a craftsman if you want to, simply by finishing a program in one of the specific Craftsman Trades. Craftsman Trades include specialized construction trades such as carpentry, electrician and plumbing, as well as industrial trades like crane operations, pipefitting, welding and boilermaking. Most of these programs are diploma programs which last at least two years and end in a job placement.
