Court Reporting

The role of court reporters, also known as court stenographers, is often overlooked in the justice system, just as they are overshadowed in court rooms by judges, lawyers, defendants, plaintiffs, jurors and witnesses. Court reporters, however, are very important since they transcribe every word of court proceedings for documentation, and if you want to be one, the Court Reporting program will teach you everything you need to know. In particular, you will learn how to operate the stenotype machine until you can type shorthand with speeds of up to 225 words per minute, and you will also learn legal and medical terminology, as well as how to speak fluently in court English and the basics of court procedures.
